Dear UFV Students,
It is hard for me to believe that we are already in the Winter semester. Even crazier that it is already 2025. Time is moving so quickly. If we have not had the chance to meet yet, my name is Jayden, and I am the President of the Student Union Society (SUS). We had an action-packed Fall 2024 semester, and we are gearing up for an even bigger finish to the year. If you’d like a recap of some of the things we were doing last semester, check out our Fall at a Glance.
This semester we are wrapping up with some exciting events and programming. Our Early Eats program is still going strong to support student food security, we have expanded the FairGrounds food menu to offer some more tasty options, and we have some big events in the works including a silent disco, a Chilliwack BBQ, and a special event for our Clubs and Associations! Keep an eye out on our events page to see more details soon.
Speaking of Clubs and Associations, if you have not joined a C&A yet, NOW IS THE BEST TIME! C&As have been rocking it lately, and SUS has just made some improvements to our funding policies to help make the process even easier to get out and get connected! If you can’t find the C&A you want to join, we’ve also been working to make starting a C&A even better with a new welcome package, training videos, and a more streamlined process! Check out all things C&As here!
Another thing to watch out for this semester is the 2025 SUS Elections! Nominations are opening in January and the election period will run until March. If you are a passionate student interested in getting involved with the Student Union Society, I urge you to consider running in our election. We will have positions open for our board of directors and our executive team. If you are passionate about serving the UFV community through SUS, then check out more about the elections here.
Thank you for making UFV the community that it is. I would like to say again how grateful I am for the opportunity to serve as your SUS President, and I can’t wait to get out there and connect with you this semester! I wish you all the best in the Winter semester, and I look forward to writing to you again soon.
-Jayden Hovey, UFVSUS President
