The University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Society (UFVSUS) is sharing an important update regarding UMO accounts and U-Pass access for UFV students in Abbotsford.
UMO is introducing new fraud-prevention measures to protect student accounts and ensure fair use of the U-Pass program across all users.
This update changes how UMO accounts can be used across devices.
📱 One UMO Account = One Device
UMO accounts are designed to be used on one device only.
Students must ensure the following:
Do not share your UMO login, QR code, or activation code
Do not use your account on multiple devices
Do not switch frequently between phones
When changing or replacing a device, students should transfer their account once and continue using that single device.
🔄 Why These Updates Are Being Introduced
UMO is implementing new safeguards to detect and prevent account sharing.
These include limits on how often an account can be transferred between devices.
For UFV students in Abbotsford who rely on the U-Pass system daily, these measures are intended to maintain fairness and system integrity.
⚠️ What Happens if an Account Is Flagged
Accounts that exceed the monthly device transfer limit may be flagged for misuse.
If an account is flagged:
The account may be frozen
U-Pass and any associated transit passes may be permanently removed
Once flagged, access cannot be restored through UFVSUS.
📞 Support is only available through the UMO Call Centre at 1-877-380-8181
📲 New or Replacement Devices
When a student gets a new phone or replaces a lost device:
Log in to the UMO account on the new device
Set it as the primary device
Avoid switching back and forth between devices
Frequent device changes may trigger account restrictions.

Only switch devices when necessary
These guidelines help ensure continued access to transit benefits for all University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) students.
