Farewell Dr. Maclean
As Dr. Joanne MacLean retires from her role as UFV President, we at the UFV Student Union Society wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for her years of dedicated service and unwavering support for students at UFV.
Towards the end of June, UFV Student Union Society Executives had the honour of visiting Dr. MacLean to present her with a small token of appreciation, an award recognizing her outstanding commitment to the UFV Student Union Society and the entire student body.
Dr. MacLean has been a constant supporter of student leadership, advocacy, and engagement. She has shown genuine care for students' voices and well-being, and her encouragement over the years has helped strengthen the connection between the university and its student body. Her presence and passion will truly be missed on campus.
Welcome Dr. Mandigo
With that transition, we also welcome President James Mandigo, who officially began his term on July 1st, 2025. Dr. Mandigo has also been a great advocate for student issues and a big supporter of a better student experience at UFV during his previous role as Vice President Academic & Provost.
In his new role, we are excited to continue the strong relationship between SUS and the UFV President’s Office. We look forward to working alongside President Mandigo to ensure student voices remain at the heart of UFV’s future. We are confident that under President Mandigo’s leadership, UFV will continue to grow as a place that uplifts students and centers their voices in meaningful ways.
We wish Dr. MacLean all the very best in this next chapter of her life, and President Mandigo all the very best as he begins this important journey at UFV. As always, SUS remains committed to advocating for students, working in partnership with university leadership, and building a stronger UFV for all.
