From a small group of passionate volunteers in the 1990s to becoming a central part of campus life today, SUS has continued to grow and evolve while staying true to its mission of supporting, representing, and celebrating UFV students.

🌱 Our Beginnings
The story of SUS began in 1995, when UFV was still known as the University College of the Fraser Valley. Students recognized the need for stronger advocacy and a unified voice on campus — and from that vision, the Student Union Society was born.
In its early years, SUS focused on improving access to student services, amplifying student representation, and hosting campus events that built community — values that continue to define the organization today.
🏗️ A Milestone Moment: The Student Union Building
Fast forward to 2015 - a defining chapter in SUS history. That year marked the grand opening of the Student Union Building (SUB) on UFV’s Abbotsford campus - a space built by students, for students.
More than just bricks and mortar, the SUB became a symbol of community, collaboration, and student pride. Today, it is a hub for connection, creativity, and advocacy - the heart of the UFV student experience.
